If at some point in time you decided to take a long or short break from social media and you temporarily deactivated your Instagram account, you can easily get it back without any issues.

Whether you were handling your account from an Android or IOS device or from your computer, the steps you have to follow are the same and easy.

You simply need to open your Instagram account and enter your username and password. You will automatically be directed to your account. Obviously, no one will be able to view your profile until you reactivate it.

In case you don’t remember your password, you need to tap “forgot your password” and by either entering your email ID or mobile number, you will be given a link by which you can reset your password and start using your account.

Recovering a Permanently Deleted Instagram Account

If you try to log into your Instagram account but it gives an error message saying “looks like you requested to delete this account”, it means your account has been deleted.

You should first try to follow the same steps listed above (for temporarily deactivated accounts) and if you are still not able to access your account, you should follow the next steps.

You should visit this link as it will direct you to the Instagram Help Center. You will be asked whether your deleted account is personal or for business, and you should opt accordingly.

Next, you will be required to fill a form and add the following details:

  • Your username
  • The full name you used to create your Instagram account
  • The email address you used to create your account
  • The country you reside in while filling this form

After you are done with filling and submitting the form, you have to wait for 48 hours as you will receive a code in order to get your account back. You will also be given some instructions and will be required to write that code which you’ve received along with your Instagram username and email ID on plain paper and take your picture holding it.

Within two to three days, you will be given a link by the Instagram Team to restore your permanently deleted Instagram account upon clicking it.
