1. Begin with long items
If a couch or bookcase is too lengthy to stand on its end, place it along one of the container’s sides. If the object is upholstered or has a scratchable finish, wrap it tightly in a furniture blanket and fasten it with tape.
2. Gently arrange other items on top.
Fill up the gaps around the items on the bottom with appropriate furniture and/or crates. For protection, we’ve utilized a lot of moving blankets and flattened cardboard boxes in this case. A flattened cardboard box placed on top of a soft item can help prevent the upholstery from being punctured.
3. Build to the Ceiling
The goal is to fill in the gaps with enough things so nothing moves. It is more likely to be damaged if it moves.
4. Fill Every Available Slot Tightly
Cushions, duvets, and blankets are ideal for stacking on top of one another and stuffing into gaps. Wrap soft goods in plastic rubbish bags to keep them clean.
5. Continue to Expand
Start moving out from the back of the truck, gently building forward to the opening, after you have a good floor-to-ceiling stack.
6. If necessary, use straps to help prevent shifting
Trucks and cargo containers should be equipped with straps, rails, or rings in the walls to secure potentially dangerous items. This is very useful if you don’t have enough stuff to fill the truck completely.
When finished, your truck or shipping container should resemble the image above.
